The collection of designs here are in a range of spaces: the 800 seat Discovery Theatre with a 48’ proscenium, the Wheeler Opera House in Aspen, a baroque sized hall, and the 350 seat, asymmetrical Sydney Laurence theatre in Anchorage.
My first professional designs were in Perseverance Theatre’s 150 seat thrust space where audience wraps widely around a large and tall playing space. My years in that great non-traditional space at Perseverance taught me two things: to work on details because it was small, and to take care to fill it in a well-composed manner, because it is a large volume.
